Here’s what Worked for Our Clients in 2019

As we look to the new year with excitement and anticipation, I think it’s important to also look back and learn from the past. As my team and I review 2019, there are a few marketing tactics that worked really well for our clients and I’m sharing them with you here:

  1. Email Marketing

Ya, I know, email marketing can be really annoying, but if done well, it can drive people to your website, get people to make a purchase, download a lead magnet, sign up for your event, etc. Some people say that email has had its day and that it’s no longer effective, but at Brand Accelerator we haven’t seen that. We used email marketing for almost every client last year and with great success. Typical open rates were between 25-35%. We even had one that was 45%!!

The key to successful email campaigns is to provide valuable content before asking for the sale. We’ll be talking about this more in future Marketing Monday’s with Meg!

  1. Websites

The days of websites simply being a digital brochure are over. Websites can now be used to generate leads and sales. We used social media to push people to websites to learn more about our clients and to sign up for lead magnets and workshops with great success.

If your website isn’t generating business for you, you should consider tweaking it so that it becomes a lead generator.

  1. Creating Clear Messaging

We worked with our clients to simplify their messaging and to make it very simple and easy for them to communicate who they are and what they do.  As one of my marketing heroes, Donald Miller of Story Brand says, “If you confuse, you lost.”  People are exposed to at 5,000 messages a day so it’s important that we make it easy for people to understand what our clients do. There’s no doubt that this helped our clients to grow their businesses in 2019.

  1. Social Media

This was a clear winner for almost all of our clients. In 2018 we incorporated social media into most of our marketing plans but in 2019 it was a regular part of our program.  We consistently posted on our clients sites and created content so that we could provide their communities with valuable information which allowed us to connect to customers and potential customers in a whole new way. It was been a game changer for most of our clients.
