I was having lunch recently with a client (yes, we were outside and had our masks!). He said he was concerned about how often we were sending emails and posting to social media. He was afraid that people would start ignoring the posts and unsubscribing from his emails.
That’s a super legitimate concern, but here’s the thing.
As business owners, we are competing for people’s attention.
People are bombarded by messages every single day, and in order to be heard, you need to get your message out there often. That means you need to use every tool in your tool box, to deliver the message to as many people you can, as often as you can, and hope that one of your message will grab their attention.
Keep in mind that if they unsubscribe from your emails, that’s ok, because if they aren’t interested in reading what you send them, then they’re never going to buy from you.
So, let them go. They aren’t your ideal client.
Better to have a smaller email list of people who love what you’re doing, than a huge list of people who don’t care.
