Think about the last time you visited a new restaurant, booked a hotel room or hired someone to perform a service in your home. It’s most likely that part of your decision-making process including checking out their Google reviews. If so, you’re in good company.
That’s because:
- 91% of millennials trust online reviews as much as friends and family
- 83% of customers don’t trust advertisers anymore
- 90% of consumers in the US say that reviews are a crucial part of their purchase decision
If your business doesn’t have Google reviews, it’s time to rethink that. If they do, it’s time to get more. People want to see current reviews. They don’t care that you did a great job for clients in 2008.
Here’s How to Get More Google Reviews:
- Ask for Them
I love the saying “You don’t ask, you don’t get.” This is especially true here. Most people will be happy to give you a review, but they don’t always think of it. Just ask them and they’re usually happy to help you out.
- Reach Out When the Job Is Completed
After you finish working with a client, send them an email thanking them for their business. Include a link to your Google reviews and ask them to click on it and give you a quick review. Obviously, you only want to send this to customers who you know were happy with your work and will give you a positive review.
- Have Link on Website and Social
Have a place on your website that links to your Google reviews so that people can leave you a review. You can do the same on your social media profiles.
Just remember, most people are happy to give you a review but make it easy for them. Include the link or send them specific instructions so they know where to go and what to do.
Most importantly, let them know their review is important to you and thank them when they provide one.
