Create Your Brand Statement

Let me ask you a question…

 If I were to ask you right now to tell me what you do for a living, could you do it in 2 or 3 sentences?

For many of us it’s a really hard thing to do. I know because I’ve struggled with it too. In fact, this is something I see with my clients all the time. Over the years I’ve worked with hundreds of small and mid-sized businesses and one of the problems I see over and over again is that most entrepreneurs struggle to explain what they do in a clear and concise way.  

I actually have a 4 step formula that I use with my clients to help them talk about what they do. I call it a brand statement. Many people call this an elevator pitch, but I prefer the term brand statement because it’s more specific. 

Here’s the formula…

  1. Who is your client?
  2. What is their problem?
  3. What is the unique way in which you solve their problem?
  4. What’s the outcome of working with you?

 

So, I would say something like this…

You know how many small and mid-sized businesses want to do marketing but don’t have anyone on staff to do it?  Well, that’s what we do. We’re an outsource marketing firm and we create their brand, write their marketing plan and then execute their marketing for them it for them, so they can get back to running their business. 

If you use this formula, you’ll come up with a great description of your business that helps you easily explain what you do!
